Rising 270 Meters above Jericho Valley and overlooking the ancient road between Jerusalem and Jericho, Kypros was the site of an Hasmonean fortress which was destroyed by the Romans in 63 BC. King Herod built later a fortress and a palace at the site and named it after his mother
